When I took my boys on their very first ‘real’ hike when they were very young. I packed a knapsack full of juice boxes, water, and of course….goldfish….and we set out on our way. Since they were so young and the trail wasn’t too difficult but for their age….tougher than I thought…we ended up spending the entire afternoon on it. We found clearings, insects of all kinds, turkey vultures (you should see them up close….look like pterodactyls!) and trees and trees and trees. The sense of calm and beauty was what I needed but also spending that much time allowed me to see nature in a more colourful way. Respecting it again and loving it. I owe it all to my boys.
